How to Check Your ESTA Status

Checking your ESTA application status is simple and can be done at any time after submission. Your ESTA authorization is valid for two years from the date of approval or until your passport expires, whichever comes first, and allows multiple entries to the United States.

What You Need to Check Status:

  • • Your ESTA application number (provided after submission)
  • • Your passport number
  • • Your date of birth
  • • The email address used during application

Understanding ESTA Status Types:

Authorization Approved: Your ESTA has been approved and you are authorized to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program. Print or save your authorization for your records.

Authorization Pending: Your application is still being processed. Most applications are processed within 72 hours, but some may take longer depending on various factors.

Travel Not Authorized: Your ESTA application has been denied. You will need to apply for a nonimmigrant visitor visa through a U.S. Embassy or Consulate before traveling.

Important Reminders:

Always check your ESTA status before traveling, even if you have a previously approved authorization. Your ESTA may be revoked at any time if you no longer meet the eligibility requirements. Keep your authorization information easily accessible during travel, as airlines and border officials may request it.
